I am an observer, looking closely at things with all the senses. led by the eye, I want to pierce the surface of the objective world. that's when I shift to the mind's eye, while still observing the physicalities of the world around me.

I set out into the world, armed with these powers of observation. I harvest fragments of leaves, the intricacies of decay written on them, broken wings of butterflies, a young glow worm. I etch the swirls of the sky into my camera.

like lao tzu I want to watch the river flow and mud settle, but I also want to bring back the river and mud to the studio to create my own processes of settlement. I will bring them in beakers. out of their original context, they will be strengthened with poetic devices of thought and text.

the natural world is disappearing from our living spaces. how do we learn to respect the traces left by insects in the air? how can we learn to follow the pace of true conscience, which is also the pace of nature, amidst the busy chase for trains and dates? these are some questions that guide my practice.
